The Covellite Theatre in Uptown Butte, Montana is a medium-capacity (350 seat) proscenium stage venue that hosts live music, film screenings, weddings, festivals, and more. The Uptown Lounge on the ground floor is an intimate (150 capacity) scene for live music and parties, with a bar, cabaret seating, and a black box stage.
Originally built in 1896 as the First Presbyterian Church, this stunning historic structure has served many purposes over the decades, and was first named The Covellite Theatre in the 1990's. "Covellite" is a rare, iridescent indigo blue copper sulfide mineral found in Mount Vesuvius, Germany, Argentina, and Silver Bow County, Montana, to name a few. Today the venue hosts a wide variety of events including: live music, stage plays, comedy, film, dance lessons, vaudeville, burlesque, workshops, classes, and fundraisers.
