Hogan Cabin was built in the 1920's to provide field quarters for trail crews, smoke chasers, timber cruisers or grazing inspectors. The cabin is a one-room log building. The cabin has no electricity and no running water. It is equipped with a wood stove, a table, chairs, four bunk beds with mattresses, an axe, a shovel, a bucket, dishes, cleaning gear, and a propane stove and lantern. There is an outdoor toilet. Visitors must provide their own bedding.
Winter recreationists can snowmobile and cross-country ski to the cabin. Using the cabin as a base camp, visitors can take day trips to explore the area, photograph winter wildlife or enjoy the scenery.
Visitors should plan to bring their own bedding, food, toilet paper, small propane canisters or candles, dishtowels, compass and maps, flashlight, garbage bags, and matches. A vault toilet and barn with additional firewood is nearby.
Rental fee is $25.00 per night for up to 3 consecutive nights. For more information contact the Wisdom Ranger District.
