Southwest Montana’s mountains hold three ski areas, small gems in a world of massive impersonal resorts.

While able to brag of modern lifts, great snow and terrain for all abilities, in terms of affordability and a community-based atmosphere, these places are throwbacks to what many consider to be skiing's best years, when all of Montana's ski hills were locally oriented. Great Divide, Discovery Basin and Maverick Mountain are true treasures and the pride of their regions.

Their lodges have a warm inviting family atmosphere. On any given weekend, many of the people skiing know each other. And to further make them standout, they are locally owned with the proprietors involved.
